RAL 1016 Sulphur Yellow - Standard Gloss - 5L
TuffCab is a tough, water-based acrylic coating for loudspeaker cabinets, flightcases and similar equipment. It provides a hard-wearing textured finish for new builds and refurbishment.
September 2026 formulation
TuffCab manufactured from September 2026 uses a new formulation: tougher, faster curing and with improved bonding, while keeping straightforward application and the familiar textured finish.
When matching or touching up older cabinets, allow for possible differences in colour, sheen and texture.
Features
- Apply with a textured roller for the traditional TuffCab finish.
- Vary the roller and application technique to achieve different textures.
- Suitable for plywood, MDF and other timber cabinet construction.
- Water-based and straightforward to apply.
- Minor knocks and scratches can be touched up.
Coverage
A 5 L tin covers up to 30 m² per coat, depending on the surface, texture and application thickness.
Bare MDF, plywood and other absorbent timber surfaces normally require at least two coats. The first coat generally uses more paint; subsequent coats help produce an even texture and finish.
When refurbishing cabinets with a sound existing painted surface, a single coat may be sufficient to refresh the finish.
Sulphur Yellow: additional coats may be needed over dark, dirty or heavily marked surfaces. Clean existing cabinets thoroughly and remove as much dirt and marking as possible before painting. On new cabinets, a suitable white acrylic primer can improve coverage and provide a more consistent light-coloured base, particularly where dark wood grain or pencil marks may show through.
