3. Cleaning, storage and keeping rollers between coats

TuffCab is water based, so rollers, brushes and other equipment are easiest to clean while the paint is still wet. Wash tools thoroughly with clean water after use and do not allow paint residues or leftover paint to enter drains.

Storing TuffCab

Keep TuffCab in its original container with the lid tightly sealed. Store between 5°C and 30°C, away from direct sunlight, frost and extremes of temperature.

The current formulation has a recommended shelf life of up to 12 months when stored correctly in the original sealed container. Paint that has been stored for longer may still be usable, but its condition should be checked carefully before use.

Part-used tins should be resealed as soon as possible. Keep the rim and lid clean so the container can form a good seal, and avoid leaving the tin open unnecessarily. If paint has been stored for some time, stir it thoroughly and test a small amount before starting a full cabinet.

Keeping Rollers Between Coats

If you are applying another coat later, there is no need to wash a roller immediately. Wrap the wet roller tightly in cling film or a plastic bag, excluding as much air as possible. With a good seal the paint remains wet because air cannot reach it.

In practice it is difficult to make the wrapping completely airtight, but a well-wrapped roller will normally remain usable for several days. Three to four days is a sensible conservative guide. Before reusing it, check that no paint has dried on the roller surface, as dried material can spoil the texture of the next coat.

After Painting

Remove as much paint as practical from tools before washing them. Allow unwanted paint and empty containers to be disposed of in accordance with local requirements rather than pouring leftover paint into drains.
